Surface depth and HIC
As climbers or kids on climbing traverse walls or play equipment gain height, so does the requirement for a deeper fall surface to absorb impact from a falling person. The higher the fall the deeper the surface. Rubber Crumb tiles fail to provide as good an impact surface at higher levels as Wet Pour Rubber Crumb which can be laid to over 100mm deep.
Head Impact Criteria (HIC) relates the fall a person could take and the required depth of fall surface to absorb this impact safely. On discussion it is easy to work out what the required depth would be on an individual project.
